Do you confuse through with across ?
1. through:經過、通過、穿過
是有穿過的意思,通常指穿越有遮蔽之處,例如說從公園的這邊穿到另外一邊,或者是一個範圍你從這一邊走到另外一邊。
Ex1. She walks through a park. 她穿過了一座公園。
Ex2. We walk through the woods. 我們穿越樹林.
Ex3. We walk through the tunnel. 我們走過隧道.
Ex4. We drove through the center of Taipei. 我們開車經過台北市中心。
2. across:(adv.)橫越、穿過、到那邊
大多是用於到對面的時候。
Ex1. We walk across the road. 我們走過馬路.
Ex2. He jumped across the river. 他跳過那條河流。
* across from 在…的對面
Ex1. The post office is just across from the club. 郵局就在那俱樂部對面。
比較:cross (v) 越過、渡過、交叉
Ex1. They crossed the river by boat. 他們乘舟渡河。
= They crossed the river in a boat.
Ex2. Look right and left before you cross the street. 過馬路前先看左右方。
Ex3. She sat down and crossed her legs. 他坐下來,雙腿交叉著。
cross (n) 十字形、十字架
Ex1. There is a cross on the top of the church. 那座教堂的頂端有座十字架。
